A tragic Hero* Al Capone also known as 'Scarface' because of three visible wounds inflicted in a bar fight by a straight razor,was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 17,1899. Nothing in his early life / in his childhood would suggest that he would have become such a notorious mob boss.His parents who were Italian Immigrants were pacifist and didn't believe in violence.But his rise to fame came when he moved to Chicago to join his partner and first boss Johnny Torrio. First,Torrio asked him to become his right hand man, but when Torrio retired after moving their business to Cicero, Capone became the boss. Reputation: Capone was said to be cruel / tough /merciless / was feared. In 1929, he had Bugs Moran ( the leader of the rival North Side Gang) killed/ murdered by his men who pretended to be policemen. The Treasury Dpt investigated on him and had him arrested and convicted. He was sent to various jails: Cook County jail, Atlanta, Alcatraz for income -tax fraud. Then as he was sick he was released from jail,since he lost control over the mob / he was unable to / couldn't manage his business any more.
